Deb's Totally Unofficial OLA Conference Blog, The Second
Oh, kids. What a day I had. Never mind that I went over to the CBC museum, saw the tickle trunk and the Friendly Giant's Castle, never mind that I had a 'hey how you doin'" head-nod moment with Brent Bambury (I'd have preferred George S., but only slightly). Never mind that I scored a healthy bag o' trade show swag, ran into some interest group folks, hugged Cindy W., and thoroughly enjoyed my sessions. You can even never mind the awesome plenary speaker Ethan Zuckerman or my new professional crush on M.J. D'Elia, late of LibrarianGear fame (rest assured, my professional crushes are all platonic - see also Dr. B and Dan Scott). Never mind ANY of that stuff.
You guys.
I met Miss Brianne.
Yeah, THAT Miss Brianne. The one in whose shadow I have toiled, the incredibly talented and popular ex-Branch Manager at Churchill. And you know what? It's all true. She's delightful.
Anyhow, my OLA experience has now drawn to an end. It was great, albeit a bit too short, and next time I'll stay overnight in the city to avoid the commute, but all in all a good time. Congrats to Mandy on her successful session, and congrats to everybody on the AskON pilot project. Didn't the logo look cute on the cake? Extra points awarded to the woman who attended the launch in the AskON logo colours.
